1. Meeting
Normally it will be necessary to meet again, after an initial appointment at my offices, to finalise documentation. By prior arrangement and in exceptional circumstances I can meet you elsewhere, although this may lead to additional expenses in terms of travelling and travelling time.
2. Notary Public Documents
Any documents which you bring with and which need to be notarised should not be bound, as I may have to re-bind them with a covering notarial certificate. In order to help to reduce delays and expense please provide (in advance of our first meeting if possible) either the originals or complete copies of: any documents which need to be notarised; relevant correspondence from the country to which the documentation is to be provided; and your proof of identity (see “Identification Requirements”).
3. Legalisation
Depending upon which country is looking to rely on the document which I produce, I may have to arrange for that document to be produced to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London and, possibly, also to the consulate or other diplomatic representation of that other country. I will be able to advise you in detail of the time and cost implications of the process of getting Notary Public Documents legalised.
4.Notary Public Fees
Apart from costs and expenses, such as of legalisation which I have just mentioned, the basis of my fees is explained in “Terms of Business”. Please ask me for details of my charges, including my hourly rate.
5. Notary Public Information
The Notary Services which I carry out must be performed with a high degree of care, especially since these acts are relied on by clients, third parties and foreign governments. I am duty bound to guard against error, omission, fraud and forgery. Even if your matter is urgent and delay may have financial implications, I must at all times give priority to the need to avoid such defects. The production of Notary Public Documents is not a rubber-stamping exercise.
6. Wortley Byers LLP Solicitors
My offices are located at the offices of the solicitors Wortley Byers LLP, which is an entirely separate law practice of which I am a partner. Please see “Wortley Byers LLP” for more information about that firm.
